FIO ITALIA 2027

Join us for FIO ITALIA 2027!

FIO ITALIA offers an all-encompassing artistic experience to emerging artists from around the world. Our curriculum encompasses the entire range of the opera industry and welcomes singers, collaborative pianists, and assistant conductors and stage directors. Additionally, FIO offers internships for costumers, stage technicians, lighting designers, stage managers, and administrators.

All participants at FIO:

  • Receive four weeks of intensive Italian language classes through Centro Studi Italiani.

    • Students may petition to their universities for language course credits.

  • Participate in core curriculum of stage movement, recitative coaching, acting for the stage, and career development seminars, both in the United States and internationally.

  • Study and collaborate with a brilliant international roster of artist affiliates and staff.

  • Receive five weeks of housing (apartment-style) and transportation to and from Rome (see more details on our travel information page).

  • Enjoy a day trip to the beautiful San Marino and Pesaro.

    • This trip includes attendance at a performance by the Rossini Festival in Pesaro.

  • Celebrate an incredible summer together at our Farewell Dinner!

Learn more about each of FIO’s artist divisions:

  • Singers

    Perform in fully-staged productions, sing in concerts and masterclasses, develop language skills, & more.

  • Collaborative Pianists

    Collaborate with singers, perform opera scenes, & develop repetiteur skills.

  • Assistant Conductors & Stage Directors

    Conductors: serve as chorusmasters, receive coachings, and be considered for conducting one-acts.

    Directors: serve as stage managers and stage our opera scenes.

  • Interns

    Our 2027 festival has internships available in the following areas: costume design, technical production, lighting design, stage management, & administration.
