All Assistant Stage Directors at FIO:

  • Assist the stage directors in our mainstage shows

  • Stage direct assigned scenes in the opera scenes program

  • Stage manage an assigned show(s)

  • Stage manage any off-sight performances

  • Assist in strike for the festival

  • Have the opportunity to attend four weeks of Intensive Italian Language classes

  • Attend any outside trips scheduled for the festival

Assistant Stage Directors

All assistant conductors at FIO:

  • Shadow our conducting faculty in rehearsals and coachings.

  • Serve as assistant chorusmaster for a mainstage production.

  • Collect the scores at the end of the performances and return them to the office for erasures.

  • Receive weekly lessons with resident conductors.

  • Will be considered for the opportunity to conduct one of the one act operas (based on preparation and confirmation from the music faculty).
