All singers at FIO:

  • Perform in fully staged productions (mainstage productions with orchestra; Voices of America touring production, studio artist productions and scenes with piano).

  • Receive eight 45-minute voice lessons.

  • Receive eight 30 min coaching sessions with Italian coaches.

  • Participate in at least one masterclass with our international faculty and guest artists.

We recognize that deadlines for several major competitions and Young Artist Programs occur shortly after the end of FIO ITALIA. As much as possible, we will coordinate recording sessions for those who have a need. An additional pianist fee may apply.

Limited talent-based scholarships are available to singers. If interested, please submit a letter of interest along with your application detailing your financial situation.

Two Tracks

The Emerging Artist Program

The Emerging Artist Program is for advanced singers approaching or entering professional careers. Repertoire, casting, performance responsibility, and training is designed for artists working at a high pre-professional or professional level.

The Studio Artist Program

The Studio Artist Program is for developing singers building the technical, musical, linguistic, and dramatic foundation needed for their next stage. Singers receive substantial training and performance experience within the festival environment.

Voices of America Ensemble

FIO MONDO is thrilled to announce its first Voices of America Ensemble tour! Beginning in our 2027 season, FIO artists will join the laRespighi Orchestra for a touring celebration of American Music. Singers will bring America’s great musical traditions—from Broadway and spirituals to Tin Pan Alley—to theaters and festivals throughout the Marche region. Through this tour, artists will create a musical dialogue between American and Italian culture.

Applicants interested in featured solos with the Voices of America ensemble should prepare a selection from Broadway or the Great American Songbook to include with their audition materials.

Scenes Program & Concerts

FIO’s concert and opera scenes programs give artists additional opportunities to perform beyond the mainstage productions. Participants explore a wide range of repertoire through staged scenes, recitals, and concerts, developing greater confidence, versatility, and connection with audiences in historic venues throughout the region.

Masterclasses

All students have the opportunity to perform in at least one masterclass. Our world-renowned faculty bring a wealth of professional experience to FIO and are committed to each participant’s artistic development.
