Centro Studi Italiani

Cento Studi Italiani is an Italian language and culture school for international students. CSI offers all levels of language courses, opera and dance programs, arts & crafts courses (cookery, art, ceramics, etc.) and cultural tours of Italy.

CSI is our FIO ITALIA participants’ headquarters and home away from home while in Urbania. In their beautiful space, we have our daily intensive Italian classes, most of our coachings and voice lessons, quite a few opera rehearsals, and many of our recitals and masterclasses. Italian classes and coachings are taught by native Italians. CSI treats us like family and goes above and beyond to ensure that our time in Urbania is truly magical!

Orchestra LaRespighi

The Orchestra LaRespighi is a professional ensemble that performs alongside FIO artists in our mainstage productions.

Abouut the Orchestra LaRespighi

Founded in Imola in 2005 as Orchestra Recondite Armonie and recently renamed Orchestra LaRespighi, the ensemble has developed over the past two decades into a dynamic musical organization committed to artistic excellence, education, and bringing live music closer to new and diverse audiences.

Under the artistic direction of Gabriele Fiorio, LaRespighi brings together accomplished professional musicians and emerging young artists, creating an environment in which performance and artistic development naturally complement one another. This spirit has shaped the orchestra since its foundation, inspiring a wide range of initiatives including open rehearsals, encounters with internationally renowned soloists and musicians, educational projects, and advanced training opportunities for young performers.

Since 2025, LaRespighi has expanded its artistic presence across Cesena, Imola, Sarsina, and Sant’Agata Feltria, presenting an eclectic repertoire that moves effortlessly from Baroque and chamber music to the great symphonic tradition, musical theatre, and the world of film music.

The orchestra’s recent projects reflect this versatility. Under Gabriele Fiorio’s artistic leadership, LaRespighi has been involved in productions and concert projects including West Side Story at Ravenna’s Teatro Dante Alighieri; Nello Salza: La Tromba del Cinema Italiano at the Arena Plautina in Sarsina as part of the Plautus Festival; and Trip to America, Note Cinematografiche, and Ottoni da Oscar. Its performances have been featured within major cultural events and festivals including the Emilia Romagna Festival, Lucania Classica Festival, Festival Onde Sonore on Lake Iseo, and at MuBAq – Museo dei Bambini dell’Aquila.

In 2026, LaRespighi entered a new chapter in its artistic journey through its collaboration with FIO – Festival of International Opera and Centro Studi Italiani, joining an international community of singers, conductors, faculty, and emerging artists in the creation of major operatic productions in Italy.

Rooted in the Italian musical tradition while embracing collaboration, education, and new artistic perspectives, Orchestra LaRespighi continues to build bridges between generations of musicians and audiences, bringing together the energy of young talent and the experience of established professionals through the shared language of live performance.
